The earth as it is today is an power devouring place and it’s imperative that we be researching renewable channels of power to provide that demand. We should also see better modes of applying the latest green energy technology that are already in place. We all need to be worried about the affect that is being put on our planet and how the steep cost of energy is affecting us. Regrettably a lot of energy is wasted each day and we have to improve ways we can be more conservative in our use. . There are solutions to these issues but how willing have people been to apply these solutions at the present.
Wind power has started to become very popular over the last decade as a notable source of green energy. The price of the power it produces is turning very aggressive with established methods of energy production such as coal and natural gas. Power used to be created by windmills in the past on the family farm for many years. They used to used on the farms to pump water and every farm had one back then. It is a known fact these days that the states of Texas, Kansas, and North Dakota have adequate wind to furnish power for the whole U.S.
Another green enegy source that has gotten much press is corn. The ethanol that is made from corn is a clean burning energy source and crops can be grown year after year so it is renewable but at what price. The cost of corn has gone up as the result of this, which is good for the farmer but bad for the consumer. There are better alternative to corn and one of them is prairie grass. In reality it generates more energy per acre than corn. Plus you don’t have to cultivate it because it grows wild. All you have to do is harvest and process it and no fertilizer or chemicals are used.
Another green energy source we see and hear more of is solar power. You have the solar panels which convert sunlight into electricity and solar water heater to produce hot water. I’ve read about people who have placed solar energy systems on their homes in areas you wouldn’t think it would work, like Seattle. Even though this is a very cloudy rainy area the return on investment was almost unbelievable.
One of the reasons I really like solar power is the fact that it allows people to become energy independent one home at a time. This would allow a shift from centralized power production to decentralization. Think about it, there hasn’t been a lot of money spent on the research and development so costs remain high and the cause doesn’t advance. Large corporations want to protect their profits and unfortunately it almost seems as though they’d do anything to make that happen.
Regardless there are many alternatives that are now being explored because we know we can’t stay dependent on the oil pipeline forever. We need to get smart about what we are doing with our energy situation and begin to implement a new energy agenda. It can start to benefit us now and will definitely benefit our children. You can do something to help make green energy a very real possibility for everyone.
You can learn more about solar chargers, wind turbines , and other forms of renewable energy sources by studying on the Web about the subject that interests you the most. Become sustainable and help keep the world alive and well for the future.
